Hamilton are set to sign former Bury left-back David Buchanan.

The 24-year-old underwent a medical on Sunday and Accies hope to have him on board when they set off for their training camp in Spain on Monday.

Accies manager Billy Reid said: "We will sign David Buchanan pending a medical. We have one or two other things moving on but nothing concrete."

Former Northern Ireland youth international Buchanan left Bury earlier this month after the club signed a replacement when he failed to respond to their contract offer in time.

Buchanan, who made 215 appearances for the npower League Two club, joined Rochdale on trial but then moved to Accies, where he impressed in a pre-season friendly against Queen of the South.
