illy Reid praised the four debutants who contributed to Hamilton's victory over Aberdeen - their first SPL win of the season.

It was one of his regulars who made the difference as Dougie Imrie fired home the decider from 30 yards after just 38 seconds in a 1-0 win at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium against the midfielder's former employers Inverness.

Striker Nigel Hasselbaink - nephew of former Chelsea frontman Jimmy Floyd - and defender Andrew Graham made their first appearances for Accies, while Jon Routledge and Grant Gillespie made their first starts for the club.

"It was a huge win for us," Reid said.

"We came here with a young side including four SPL debutants and I think they all handled it pretty well.

"And what a goal by Dougie Imrie - enough to win any game.

"On the break I thought we looked a threat all the time."

The visitors bounced back from a 1-0 CIS Insurance Cup defeat at Raith Rovers midweek to secure their first points of the campaign and Reid believes they have more to offer.

"If we can hang in now and dig in, when our key players come back we will be a lot stronger," he added. "People have been pressing panic buttons, but I didn't.

"We're not going to get carried away, we have a long way to go and there's a lot of work to be done. Some of our young guys need time and I'll certainly be patient with them."

Inverness fans may have expected more from a side which beat Dundee United 4-0 at Tannadice last Sunday and were comfortable 3-0 cup winners against Peterhead at home in midweek.

Manager Terry Butcher said: "I'm very disappointed because we were on such a high last week and within 40 seconds that confidence had been knocked out of us because of the Hamilton goal," he said.

"In the second half we certainly had a go at them and got in some good positions but the final ball and belief to score just wasn't quite there as it has been."
